Sometimes Stumbling is a Really Good Thing!

Yup, you heard me, stumbling can be a good thing. Naturally, it all depends upon what you stumble over. In 2016 I was knee deep shall we say, in furthering my search for more information about the passengers on board Faithful Steward. And one evening I stumbled upon Ellsworth Boyd, and the website – NUMA.net This is an anacronym for the National Underwater Marine Agency, the brainchild of author – writer – Clive Cussler. Mr. Boyd is actively engaged in research and writing, specifically marine history. And he does a great job of it. You can read all of his posts at the NUMA website. So something big happened that night. I stumbled upon his article, “Faithful Coins Wash Ashore.” And not only was it very interesting – there were comments from his readers, some of whom descended from the passengers that I was researching and writing about. Connections with these folks followed and the exchange has enhanced my research. You see – by the time you finish my last few chapters, you will gain a new perspective, one whereby you will live this tragedy. After all, my opinion, this is Delaware’s Worst Maritime Disaster. My objective in these final chapters is to relive something of unspeakable horror, a true event, and yes, I have a goal. The final chapters are based upon actual historic research. My goal is to make the reader shed a tear, hopefully cry, because if this doesn’t happen, well – I have failed. Enjoy the book – it’s coming. The link to NUMA and Mr. Boyd’s article follows. https://numa.net/2016/03/faithful-coins-wash-ashore-from-delaware-shipwreck/#comment-98053

  1. I too am a descendant of the Lee family and had heard how our family almost died out with this shipwreck. I am now researching family history and have found all these stories. I look forward to your book. I would also so be interested in your descendants list.

  2. Hello Susan: So good to hear from you. My apologies for the delay in responding – I just returned from 9 days at the beach. I will be going to another beach, Fenwick Island, DE as soon as I can, in a week or so, to take pictures of artifacts from Faithful Steward, then on to launching my novel. I’m excited. You are the second Lee descendant. You’ll love messaging, or possibly conversing with the other. I have spoken to her a couple of times. Can you provide me your connection to the Lee family, for example, great …. granddaughter to. I will be glad to add you to the list. Send it to hawwriter@protonmail.com Thank you.
